In this song, Ben Harper invites us to change the world with our own two hands... that is the biggest goal of this unit!
Here are the instructions for the oral evaluation. Read them carefully and post tour doubts if necessary.
Option 1: Research.
In couples or groups of three.
Choose one
of the following initiatives which aim to help the environment in our country.
(you may choose another one you know)
Bicycles in Chile
Plastic bags Pucón
http://www.bnamericas.com/news/petrochemicals/pucon-set-to-become-chiles-first-plastic-bag-free-town
Recycling in Chile
Cleaning Beaches
Then, prepare
a presentation which includes the following information:
·
Name
and aim of the organization/initiative
·
How
the organization works (where they work, what they do, people who participate,
how long they have existed)
·
Why you chose this organization/initiative.
·
Would
you participate in the initiative? Why? Why not? (each member must answer this
question)
·
What
new information did you learn while preparing this presentation? (each member
must answer this question)
REMEMBER: You must include pictures
to support your presentation. But, if you use a powerpoint presentation, don’t
use full sentences. Isolated words or terms are more useful. You can also teach
some new words you find interesting. And, check the spelling before you
present.
You will have to hand in a report
which includes this information. (It can be a week after the presentation –
first week of September)
The
report must include an introductory paragraph that shows the name of the
initiative/organization and explains why you chose this initiative. Then, another part in which you explain the aim of
the organization, how the organization works.
Finally, a conclusion in which you
say why would you or why wouldn’t you participate in the organization and what
new information you learned while working on the project.
Option 2: Your ideas!
For this project, you’ll
get a grade but, most importantly, you’ll make a real positive change.
So, what do you have to do?
You must think about
real alternatives for reuse, reduce and recycle (one for each), that you can
put into practice at home. You’re going to write down your proposals. Then,
once a week you’re going to write down if they’re working; if no, you have to
tell why.
For your presentation
you have to answer the following questions.
·
What
you plan to do (to reuse, reduce and recycle).
·
How
this initiatives are going to help ( you will have to do some research)
·
Why
you chose these ideas.
·
What
new information did you learn while preparing this presentation? (each member
must answer this question)
You will have to hand in a report
which includes this information. (It can be a week after the presentation –
first week of September)
The report must include an
introductory paragraph that names what you are going to do and explains why you
chose those ideas. Then, another part in which you explain in detail what
you did and how you did it, and. You must explain how you did it each week and
if it worked.
Finally, a conclusion in which you
say what new information you learned while working on the project and how your
project could improve.
